Studio

A small studio designing rings and pendants around one stone.

The studio

Each design starts with one stone: its size in millimeters, its cut, and how much of it the setting should show. The piece is then modeled in 3D at real size, with the ring size, the stone and every wall and wire thickness set as numbers.

Working that way means a design can change without being redrawn. A bigger stone, a different ring size or a wider band is an edit to the model, and the weight of the metal comes straight from it.

Most designs are modeled in Blender from measurements. Sculpted pieces, such as the twig ring, start as a concept image that Meshy turns into a mesh, and are then sized and checked in Blender.

How a design is made

  1. Measure the stone. Length, width and depth in millimeters. Read more
  2. Model the setting. Claws, bezel and band built around it. Read more
  3. Print and cast. A wax print, cast by the lost-wax method. Read more
  4. Set and finish. The stone set, the metal polished. Read more

The model is printed in castable wax or resin and cast in gold or platinum by the lost-wax method. The casting is cleaned up and polished, then the stone is set before a final polish.

Ordering

Every design is made to order in your ring size and your choice of 18k yellow, white or rose gold, or platinum. Email [email protected] with the design, your size and the metal. We reply with a price and a date in writing, and nothing is ordered until you agree to both.

Changes are part of the quote. Because each model is built from numbers, a different stone size, band width or ring size is usually a small change.

Ring sizing

Sizes are US sizes. The easiest way to find yours is to measure a ring that already fits: lay it on a ruler, read the inside diameter, and match it below. Wide bands fit tighter: for a band wider than about 4 to 6 mm, go up a quarter to half a size.
